Omaha Poker is another variation of the Hold'Em game, like Texas Hold'Em. The game is played in very much the same way with players having their own hole cards and having five community cards, but does have a couple of small difference in the rules. With Omaha Poker, the best hand is made from two cards from the players hand, and three cards from the community cards.
What this means is that if a player gets a three-of-a-kind in their hand, the most that counts for is a pair, as only two cards from the players hand are used. Alternatively, if the players hand is A, 5, 2, 8 and the community cards are K, Q, J, 10, 3 then the player is left with an unranked Ace-high hand because only three cards from the community cards are used.
Apart from this, the game play of Omaha Poker is exactly the same as Texas Hold'Em and is played the same way with the betting rounds and blinds.
One thing that may take a bit of getting used to with Omaha Poker is that there are very often really good hands. In Omaha Poker it's not uncommon to see a full house get beaten. This is because in a game with 7 or more players, there aren't a whole lot of cards left in the deck, so the chances of the big cards being out there are huge.
Overall, Omaha poker is a great game to play and is very exciting. It will take beginners a while to fully learn the way that the hand rankings work, but with a bit of practice, Omaha will quickly become your game of choice.
