Rules of 7 Card Stud Poker
7 Card Stud is one poker game that is steadily growing in popularity because of it's great game play. 7 Card Stud is played with up to eight people, because that's the maximum amount of people that can be dealt to with a standard deck of cards. Each player receives a total of seven cards - with three cards being face-down and the remaining four cards being face-up.
The First Round
All players post an Ante before the deal. Each player receives two down cards and one up card to start the game. The player with the lowest up card is the one that starts the betting. Players are allowed one bet, and three raises in each round (please check as this may vary between poker rooms).
The Second Round
When the first round of betting is finished, all players are dealt another face-up card and the player with the highest hand showing starts the betting round again.
The Third Round
When the second round of betting is finished, all players are dealt another face-up card and the player with the highest hand showing starts the betting round again.
The Forth Round
When the third round of betting is finished, all players are dealt their final face-up card and the player with the highest hand showing starts the betting round again.
The Fifth Round
When the third round of betting is finished, all players are dealt their final face-down card and the player with the highest hand showing starts the betting round again.
The Showdown
If there is still more then one player left, all of the remaining players reveal their cards and their hands are judged on the top hand available from five of those cards.
With this much betting available during the game, 7 Card Stud poker tends to have some very big betting and is not for the faint-hearted. But if you're looking for some major poker thrills, 7 Card Stud just may be the game for you.
